Lucky Iron Fish Enterprise (LIFE) is a Canadian social enterprise dedicated to solving iron deficiency and anemia, a problem that affects 2 billion people worldwide and has devastating social and economic consequences. Established on December 12, 2012, we produce and sell the Lucky Iron Fish, which is a simple cooking tool that acts as a reusable iron fortifier. Our aim is to run a sustainable, scalable, and impactful social enterprise that makes the world a better and healthier place. We are a certified B-Corporation and are in the top ten percent of B-Corp certified businesses worldwide, reflecting our commitment to people and the planet. With our Buy-One-Give-One program, for each Lucky Iron Fish sold, we donate an additional fish to a family in need and distribute these Lucky Iron Fish with the help of non-profit partners.

The Lucky Iron Fish is shaped after the kantrop fish – a symbol of luck in Cambodia, and also a commonly-found fish in Cambodian rivers, where this idea began. It’s made from specially formulated iron that is released from the Fish when boiled for 10 minutes in slightly acidified water or broth. The unique size, shape and surface area of the Fish are designed to release a safe and consistent amount of iron when used as directed. Our clinical research shows that using the Lucky Iron Fish 3 times a week for 3-12 months increases levels of circulating and stored iron. It does not change the taste, colour or smell of the food it is cooked in, and can be reused for up to 5 years.The Lucky Iron Fish is a natural, affordable, and effective way to add healthy iron to your diet, and help improve the lives of others.
